Play in the Ashbourne Wednesday netball league
Congratulations to Ash & Dash on being crowned champions of the Ashbourne Wednesday League, and a big congratulations as well to runners-up Pass Me The Wine following a fantastic season of competition. Special recognition also goes to Saria Biddlecombe from The Ash-tonishers for being named this season’s Most Valued Player after a series of outstanding performances across the campaign.
After fourteen entertaining weeks of netball action, the Ashbourne Wednesday netball League has officially come to an end, rounding off another successful season filled with competitive matches, impressive teamwork, and plenty of memorable moments. Teams from across the League have shown great commitment and sportsmanship throughout the season, helping to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere every Wednesday evening.
The final round of fixtures delivered another exciting night of netball, with teams giving everything right up until the final whistle. Ash & Dash secured the League title in style with a confident 27-9 victory over Still Playing. Their movement around the court, defensive organisation, and consistent shooting helped them finish the season strongly and confirm their place at the top of the table. Ending the campaign with 28 points and 14 wins, Ash & Dash have been one of the standout teams throughout the season and thoroughly deserved their success.
Elsewhere on the night, Nets Get Physical and Ball Of Fame played out one of the closest contests of the evening. Both teams battled hard from start to finish in a competitive and evenly matched game, but Nets Get Physical managed to edge ahead and secure a narrow 10-7 victory. Sling It Sisters also finished their season on a positive note with a strong 14-10 win over The Ash-tonishers in another entertaining fixture that showcased the quality and determination across the League.
The final game of the evening saw Pass Me The Wine produce an excellent attacking display against Bourne Lucky. With fast-paced transitions and accurate finishing throughout the match, Pass Me The Wine secured one of the biggest winning margins of the season with an impressive 18-goal advantage. Their performance capped off an excellent campaign and confirmed their place as runners-up in the League standings.
Alongside the team successes celebrated throughout the season, several players have also stood out individually with consistently impressive performances week after week. Millie-ann Hall from Nets Get Physical was recognised as this season’s Most Valued Player after playing a key role for her side across the campaign. Her energy, consistency, and impact on court made her a deserving recipient of the award and highlighted the strength of talent within the League.
The Ashbourne Wednesday netball League continues to provide players with the opportunity to enjoy organised and competitive netball in a friendly and social environment. Across the fourteen weeks, the League has seen close contests, dramatic finishes, and plenty of moments of individual brilliance, while also bringing together teams who share a passion for the game. The standard of competition throughout the season has been excellent, with every team contributing to another successful campaign.
As one season comes to an end, excitement is already building for the next. With returning teams looking to improve, new players eager to get involved, and another season of competitive netball on the horizon, the future looks bright for the Ashbourne Wednesday League.
