The new season of the Bury Tuesday You Play Netball League got underway at Bury Grammar School, with teams returning to the court for Week 1. Players of all abilities were welcomed for an enjoyable evening of netball, providing a strong start to what promises to be another competitive and social season.

The opening fixture saw On The Rebound take on Game Of Throws. Both teams settled into the new season well, producing a competitive game and showing plenty of commitment from the first whistle. Game Of Throws made the stronger start and maintained their advantage throughout the match, securing a 7-3 victory. On The Rebound continued to work hard throughout the game and showed plenty of promise for the weeks ahead.

The second match featured No Shot Sherlock against Goal Diggers. Goal Diggers started confidently and converted their opportunities effectively to record a 10-1 win. Despite the scoreline, No Shot Sherlock remained positive and continued to compete throughout the game, demonstrating great determination and teamwork.

Net Set Go! faced Hoops! We Did It Again in the final fixture of the evening. Both teams played with energy and enthusiasm, creating an entertaining contest for everyone involved. Net Set Go! were able to build a consistent lead and finished with an 11-5 victory, but both sides can take positives from a strong opening-week performance.

With the first round of fixtures completed, the league table is beginning to take shape, although it remains very early in the season. Teams will be looking to build momentum, improve week by week and establish themselves as early contenders.

This week's Most Valuable Player award goes to a player whose energy, movement and positive attitude stood out throughout the evening. Their contribution on court was recognised by teammates and opponents alike and set the standard for the sportsmanship and commitment that the league encourages each week.

Week 1 provided an excellent introduction to the season, with competitive matches, plenty of goals and a great atmosphere throughout the evening. The league continues to offer players the opportunity to stay active, improve their skills and enjoy regular netball in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We look forward to seeing all teams return for Week 2 as the season continues and the competition begins to intensify.
