Opening Week Sets the Tone in the Congleton Thursday Netball League

The new season of the Congleton Thursday netball league got underway with a really positive and competitive evening of matches. Teams took to the court full of energy and enthusiasm, showing great teamwork and effort as they began their campaigns. It was a strong start all round, with plenty of encouraging performances and signs of what’s to come this season.

Nets Top Models 10–4 Bib Sisters
Nets Top Models opened their season with a solid and well-organised performance. Their passing was sharp and they worked effectively as a unit, helping them build a steady lead. Bib Sisters kept working throughout the game and showed determination, with plenty to build on going forward.

Thursday Thunder 14–10 Goal Diggers
This was one of the more competitive games of the evening, with both teams showing attacking intent and resilience. Thursday Thunder managed to find a strong rhythm, particularly in attack, which helped them edge ahead. Goal Diggers stayed in the contest throughout and will take positives from a hard-fought performance.

West Heath Wonders 6–3 Beartown Ballers
A closely contested and lower-scoring game, with both teams working hard defensively. West Heath Wonders showed good patience and composure, taking their chances when it mattered. Beartown Ballers remained committed throughout and contributed to an evenly matched contest.

Team to Watch: Thursday Thunder
With 14 goals in their opening match, Thursday Thunder made a strong impression. Their attacking play and overall teamwork stood out, making them a team to keep an eye on as the season develops.

With week one complete, it’s clear that the league is shaping up to be competitive and enjoyable. Teams are already beginning to settle and build combinations, and there’s plenty of netball still to be played.
