Another evening of action took place this week in the Congleton Thursday Netball League, with teams continuing to showcase their determination, teamwork, and growing confidence as the season moves into its third round of fixtures. The League produced a number of entertaining contests, with impressive attacking displays, strong defensive performances, and several standout individual contributions lighting up the courts throughout the evening.
One of the strongest performances of the night came from Beartown Ballers, who secured an excellent 12-1 victory over Thursday Thunder. From the opening stages, the Ballers looked composed and organised, moving the ball confidently through the court and applying constant pressure in both attack and defence. Their sharp passing and disciplined positioning allowed them to create regular scoring opportunities while limiting chances for their opponents.
Despite the result, Thursday Thunder continued to battle hard throughout the game and showed great commitment from start to finish. The team remained positive and determined, continuing to work for every ball and demonstrating the kind of spirit that will serve them well as the season progresses.
Nets Top Models also enjoyed a successful evening with a convincing 13-4 win over Goal Diggers. The match saw Nets Top Models settle into an impressive rhythm early on, combining strong communication with accurate shooting to gradually build control of the contest. Their teamwork across the court was particularly noticeable, with players linking up effectively and maintaining steady pressure throughout the game.
Goal Diggers continued to compete with energy and resilience despite facing a confident opponent. There were encouraging moments within their performance, and the side will undoubtedly look to build on those positives heading into the next round of fixtures.
Another exciting encounter saw West Heath Wonders produce an impressive display to overcome Bib Sisters 12-4. The Wonders showed excellent movement and composure throughout the match, creating space well and taking their chances confidently when opportunities arose. Defensively, they also worked hard to disrupt Bib Sisters’ attacking flow and maintain control of the game.
Bib Sisters, however, showed plenty of determination and continued to work tirelessly throughout the fixture. Their effort and commitment remained evident until the final whistle, and they demonstrated great teamwork despite coming up against a strong West Heath Wonders side.
Although Bib Sisters were unable to secure the win, the evening still provided a major highlight for the team as Georgina Burt was named this week’s Most Valued Player. Burt delivered an outstanding individual performance, impressing with her energy, movement, defensive work, and composure under pressure. Her influence on the court stood out throughout the evening, and her contribution earned well-deserved recognition from players and spectators alike.
As week three comes to a close, the Congleton Thursday Netball League is already shaping into an exciting and highly competitive season. Teams are beginning to build momentum, strengthen partnerships on court, and establish themselves within the League standings. Each week has brought plenty of entertainment and quality netball, with every side continuing to show enthusiasm and commitment.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind all players and teams about the importance of respecting our umpires and playing the game in the right spirit. Our umpires are there to support the league and ensure games are played fairly according to the overall skill level of the individual players, this encourages all players to develop their game accordingly. Which sometimes means some players will be pulled up for certain infringements and others won't be. This is a fun and social netball league, and while everyone naturally wants to compete and win, the focus should remain on enjoyment, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We do not allow county or divisional-level players participating, and there is no place for intimidating or challenging umpires in a negative manner. We appreciate the time and effort our umpires give each week, and we encourage everyone to continue creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere both on and off the court.
With many more fixtures still to come, players and supporters can look forward to another exciting round of matches next week. As the competition continues to develop, every game will become increasingly important, promising even more drama, close contests, and memorable performances in the weeks ahead.
