Leicester Monday night netball - week 2

Week 2 of the Leicester Monday netball League delivered another exciting evening of competitive action, with all teams showing great determination, teamwork, and enthusiasm as the season continues to take shape. With players settling into their rhythm and building strong partnerships across the court, the standard of netball on display continues to improve week by week.

Court Queens produced an impressive performance to claim a 17-11 victory over Ellesmere Elites in one of the standout fixtures of the evening. Both sides started brightly, moving the ball well through the court and creating plenty of attacking opportunities. Court Queens, however, were able to build momentum through their quick passing, disciplined defensive work, and composed finishing in front of goal. Ellesmere Elites continued to battle throughout the match and showed plenty of resilience, keeping the pressure on until the final whistle in an entertaining and competitive contest.

Although Ellesmere Elites were unable to secure the result, Chloe Love-Maclean delivered an outstanding individual performance and deservedly earned the title of Most Valued Player of the week. Chloe impressed with her movement, energy, and accuracy under pressure, while also demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication throughout the game. Her positive attitude and determination stood out across the evening and she will no doubt continue to play an important role for her side as the season progresses.

Fast Break also enjoyed a strong outing this week, earning a well-deserved 12-5 victory over Spice Goals. From the opening stages, Fast Break looked sharp in attack and worked tirelessly to move the ball quickly through the thirds. Their confidence and teamwork allowed them to create consistent scoring chances, while their defensive players worked hard to limit opportunities for Spice Goals. Despite the result, Spice Goals continued to compete well and showed encouraging signs with some strong passages of play and determined defending during the match.

One of the closest games of the evening came between Nets Go Girls and Pivot And Pass, with both teams producing a closely fought and highly competitive encounter. Neither side was willing to give an inch, and the match remained evenly balanced throughout. In the end, Pivot And Pass narrowly edged the contest with a 6-5 victory, but both teams can take plenty of positives from an excellent display of teamwork, effort, and determination. Matches like this are a reminder of how competitive the League is becoming already this season.

Across all fixtures, the atmosphere around the league remained positive and supportive, with players continuing to show excellent sportsmanship alongside their competitive spirit. Each week is providing teams with new opportunities to grow in confidence, develop combinations, and build momentum heading further into the season.

With plenty more matches still to come, the Leicester Monday League is shaping up to be another fantastic season of netball, full of exciting games, close contests, and memorable performances.
