Leicester Monday night netball - week 5

Play in the Leicester Monday Netball League

Week five of the Leicester Monday Netball League delivered another evening of high-quality netball, with teams demonstrating excellent movement, sharp passing, strong defensive pressure, and clinical finishing throughout the court. As the season continues to gather momentum, players are becoming increasingly settled within their combinations, resulting in some impressive passages of play and closely contested battles in every third of the court.

In the League, Court Queens produced a confident and composed performance to claim a 20-10 victory over Pivot And Pass. Court Queens moved the ball efficiently through the court, linking defence and attack seamlessly and making the most of their shooting opportunities. Their attacking unit showed patience around the circle edge, creating space and working the ball into dangerous positions, while their defenders applied consistent pressure to disrupt Pivot And Pass' rhythm. Pivot And Pass continued to compete throughout the match, working hard to create turnovers and build attacking opportunities, but Court Queens' strong all-round performance saw them take the points.

Ellesmere Elites also enjoyed a successful evening, recording an impressive 18-7 win against Spice Goals. From the opening centre pass, Ellesmere Elites displayed excellent communication and court awareness, allowing them to maintain possession and convert chances effectively. Their defensive players worked tirelessly to contest every pass and force errors, while their attackers showed great timing and movement around the shooting circle. Spice Goals continued to battle throughout the contest and showed moments of quality ball movement, refusing to let their heads drop despite facing a well-organised opposition.

Although the result did not go their way, Spice Goals had plenty to celebrate as Amber Kukic was named Most Valued Player of the week. Amber's performance was full of energy and determination, with her movement off the ball, ability to create space, and willingness to support teammates making a significant impact. Her consistency across all four quarters and positive contribution to her team's play made her a worthy recipient of the award.

Fast Break secured a 13-5 victory over Nets Go Girls in another competitive fixture. Both sides demonstrated great effort and commitment, with possession often hard-earned through determined defensive work. Fast Break excelled in transition, moving the ball quickly from defence into attack and making the most of their opportunities in the shooting circle. Nets Go Girls continued to work hard throughout the match, showing resilience and good teamwork as they looked to build attacking momentum and challenge their opponents.

One of the standout features of this week's fixtures was the quality of defensive play on display across the league. Interceptions, tips, and well-timed rebounds played a crucial role in many of the matches, while attacking players responded with intelligent movement and accurate passing to keep possession flowing. The balance between attack and defence created some excellent contests and highlighted the skill level present throughout the league.

As we move towards week six, teams will be looking to build on the progress they have made so far this season. With players developing stronger on-court partnerships and confidence growing with every match, the competition continues to provide an excellent environment for enjoyable and competitive netball.

Congratulations to Amber Kukic on being named Most Valued Player of the week, and well done to Court Queens, Ellesmere Elites, Fast Break, Pivot And Pass, Spice Goals, and Nets Go Girls for their performances. We look forward to seeing more excellent netball, outstanding teamwork, and memorable moments in the weeks ahead.
