A delightful evening of social netball illuminated Fenton Manor Sports Complex last Thursday. The welcoming atmosphere pervaded the entire venue as it played host to Week 14 of the on-going season. Players of all experience levels— from beginners testing their wings to seasoned players showing their prowess—relished a heart-warming night of netball that was more about camaraderie, fun, and love for the sport than mere competition.
The first game of the evening saw Flames and the Netbrawlers sharing the court, with the Netbrawlers finishing the game with a score of 10-6. Both teams showcased an enviable rapport and understanding of each other's game, which was appreciated by everyone present.
The court hummed with positive energy as Goal Diggers met Stoke Storm. As the whistle blew for the last time, Stoke Storm were ahead with a score of 17-13. Their constant encouragement and support for each other were palpable and made for an enjoyable game.
Cherry Bombs and The Swans took to the court next. The friendly match concluded with Cherry Bombs finishing the game on a high with a score of 12-6. Their display of teamwork, commitment, and sportsmanship throughout the game was commendable.
Finally, Game of Throws and Hotshots lit up the court. The game ended with Game Of Throws scoring 14 points to Hotshots' 4. The spirit in which the game was played, highlighted the true essence of social netball.
A special mention must be given to the Most Valued Player of the week, Tia Cannonier from Goal Diggers. Tia's boundless enthusiasm, excellent movement around the court, and positive contribution were not only appreciated by her teammates but also the opponents. Her performance was a testament to the spirit of the sport.
As we look ahead to Week 15, we are all eager for another evening of friendly social netball. This is not just about keeping active, but also about meeting new people, and developing netball skills in a supportive environment. Here's to more shared laughter, personal achievements, teamwork, and, most importantly, the joy of being part of this wonderful netball community.
