The Maesteg Thursday Netball League got underway last night, bringing a great mix of energy, teamwork, and enjoyment as the new season began. Players across the Premier League division showed plenty of enthusiasm, setting a positive tone for the weeks ahead.

In the opening games, teams settled into their rhythm quickly. In Control had a strong start, coming away with an 18–6 win over Shot Callers, while Cherry Bombs also enjoyed a good first outing, beating Moving And Grooving 14–5. It was encouraging to see everyone getting involved and supporting each other on court.

A special mention goes to Mel John from Shot Callers, who was named Most Valued Player of the week. Despite the result, Mel showed great determination and skill throughout the game, highlighting the spirit of the league—where effort, improvement, and teamwork matter just as much as the scoreline.

With the season just beginning, there’s plenty of time for all teams to grow, build confidence, and enjoy their netball. It’s shaping up to be a fun and friendly few weeks ahead, with lots more great moments to come.

The Maesteg Thursday League continues to be a welcoming space for players of all levels to get involved, stay active, and enjoy the game together.
