Play in the Nottingham Thursday netball league
The new season of the Nottingham Thursday netball league got off to a lively and enjoyable start, with an evening full of energy, teamwork, and encouraging performances from all teams involved. Players returned to the court with great enthusiasm, and it was clear from the outset that this season has the potential to be both competitive and rewarding for everyone taking part. The League featured a wide range of talent, with each team bringing their own style and strengths to the opening round of fixtures.
In the League, Trent Tricksters made a confident start with an 8–3 victory over Amazeballs. It was a well-contested match, with both sides showing good movement and determination throughout. The Tricksters managed to find a strong rhythm early on, combining accurate passing with composed finishing, but Amazeballs also showed plenty of promise and resilience, creating opportunities and working hard across the court.
Cosmic Creepers delivered a particularly impressive performance in their game against Hoopsy Daisy, coming away with a 24–6 win. Their teamwork stood out, with consistent communication and fluid play helping them maintain control of the match. Hoopsy Daisy, meanwhile, kept battling and showed positive moments that they can certainly build on as the season progresses.
One of the closest and most competitive games of the evening saw Net Assets edge past Bibberinos with a 14–11 win. It was a great example of how evenly matched the teams are, with both sides enjoying spells of strong play. The Bibberinos can take a lot of positives from their performance, particularly the standout contribution from Tahesha Byfield. Her excellent all-round display earned her the well-deserved most valuable player award for the week, highlighting her impact on both ends of the court.
Net It! came up against a strong Notts Netters side in their opening fixture. While the 5–0 result went in favour of Notts Netters, the game provided a valuable starting point for Net It! as they settle into the season. Notts Netters showed good organisation and consistency, setting a solid benchmark, while Net It! will no doubt look to build confidence and momentum in the coming weeks.
Overall, the opening night created a really positive atmosphere, with all teams contributing to an entertaining round of fixtures. There were plenty of encouraging signs, from developing partnerships to individual moments of quality, suggesting that the League will be closely contested as the season unfolds.
As teams continue to grow into the competition, there’s every reason to expect more exciting matches, improved performances, and plenty of memorable moments along the way.
