Play in the Gloucester Sunday Netball League
Week 7 of the Gloucester Sunday Netball League delivered another evening of competitive and enjoyable netball, with teams across the League continuing to demonstrate great teamwork, determination, and enthusiasm. As the season progresses, every fixture is becoming increasingly important, with teams looking to build momentum and strengthen their positions in the League table.
One of the closest contests of the week saw Goal Diggers and Ball Busters share the points in a hard-fought 7-7 draw. Both teams produced strong performances, matching each other throughout the game and creating a competitive encounter from start to finish. Neither side was able to establish a decisive advantage, with good defensive work and patient attacking play on display across the court. The result was a fair reflection of an evenly balanced match and highlighted the quality that both teams have brought to the League this season.
A standout performer from the fixture was Ball Busters' Tia Kirby, who earned the Most Valued Player award for her excellent contribution. Tia's energy, movement, and decision-making helped her team remain competitive throughout the game, and her performance was recognised as one of the strongest individual displays of the week.
In another fixture, Ball Of Fame claimed an impressive 11-4 victory over Net Ninjas. Ball Of Fame worked effectively as a unit, moving the ball confidently and making the most of their scoring opportunities. Their consistency across all areas of the court helped them maintain control of the match and secure a well-earned result. Despite the scoreline, Net Ninjas continued to show resilience and determination, working hard throughout the game and looking to create opportunities whenever possible.
The highest-scoring result of the evening came as Pitch Slap recorded a 20-4 win against Throw And Go. Pitch Slap produced a confident team performance, combining strong attacking play with organised defending to maintain pressure throughout the match. Their ability to convert chances and keep possession proved decisive as they continued to build momentum. Throw And Go remained committed throughout the contest and will no doubt be looking to take positives from the experience as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
With seven weeks now completed, the League table is beginning to take shape, but there is still plenty of netball left to be played. Teams continue to improve with every round, and the competitive spirit across the League has ensured that each week brings new challenges and exciting matchups. The close contest between Goal Diggers and Ball Busters demonstrated just how evenly matched many of the teams are, while strong performances from Ball Of Fame and Pitch Slap highlighted the quality that exists throughout the competition.
As attention turns to week 8, players and teams will be eager to continue their progress and build on recent performances. Whether competing for points at the top of the League or looking to gain valuable experience and confidence, every team has plenty to play for as the season moves forward.
Congratulations to all teams who took part this week, and special recognition goes to Tia Kirby for earning the Most Valued Player award. We look forward to seeing more great netball, memorable performances, and competitive fixtures in the weeks ahead.
