Opening Week Brings a Positive Start to the Nantwich Thursday Netball League

The Nantwich Thursday netball league got underway with an enjoyable and competitive first round of fixtures. With it being the opening week of the season, teams showed great enthusiasm, teamwork, and effort across the court, setting a strong foundation for the weeks ahead.

Wildcats 18–11 Call The Shots
Wildcats made a confident start to their campaign, showing good movement and control throughout the game. Their consistency in attack helped them build a solid lead, while Call The Shots kept working hard and showed promising moments as they settled into the match.

We Don’t Give A Shot 15–13 Court Slayers
One of the closest games of the evening, this match saw both teams competing well from start to finish. We Don’t Give A Shot managed to edge ahead with some composed play in key moments, but Court Slayers pushed them all the way in a well-balanced contest.

Hoop There It Is! 12–6 Shots And Giggles
Hoop There It Is! delivered a strong all-round performance, combining good teamwork with effective finishing. Shots And Giggles remained determined throughout and will take positives as they continue to build their confidence this season.

Put A Donk On It 15–4 Red Falcons
Put A Donk On It started brightly, finding a good rhythm early and maintaining control across the court. Red Falcons kept battling and will look to build on this experience as they continue to develop in the coming weeks.

MVP of the Week: Hannah Leighton (Net It!)
Hannah made a real impact with her performance, showing great awareness, movement, and consistency throughout. Her contribution stood out on the night and played an important role for her team.

With the first week complete, it’s encouraging to see such a positive start from all teams. As the season progresses, there will be plenty of opportunities for improvement, closer contests, and more enjoyable evenings of netball.
