Nantwich Thursday night netball - week 3

The Nantwich Thursday Netball League continued to deliver another fantastic evening of competitive action this week as teams took to the court for week three of the season. With exciting fixtures, impressive teamwork, and standout individual performances on display throughout the night, the League is already shaping up to be a highly entertaining and closely contested competition.

The evening began with an excellent performance from Put A Donk On It, who secured a well-earned 10-5 victory over Net It! in a competitive encounter. Both sides started brightly and worked hard to settle into the game, but Put A Donk On It gradually found their rhythm with some confident passing and organised play across the court. Their ability to maintain possession and convert scoring opportunities proved to be an important factor in securing the result.

Net It! showed plenty of determination throughout the match and continued to battle until the final whistle. Despite the result not going their way, there were positive signs in their performance, particularly in their effort and defensive work, which they will look to build on in the coming weeks.

One of the evening’s most entertaining matches saw Shots And Giggles produce a strong all-round display to claim a 16-7 victory over Wildcats. Shots And Giggles impressed with their attacking movement and sharp finishing, consistently creating opportunities and maintaining pressure throughout the game. Their defensive unit also played a key role, limiting Wildcats’ chances and helping their side maintain control for much of the contest.

Wildcats continued to work hard and showed great spirit despite facing a confident and organised opponent. The team remained committed throughout the game and demonstrated plenty of resilience, qualities that will certainly benefit them as the season develops further.

Court Slayers delivered one of the standout performances of the week with an impressive 22-5 win over Red Falcons. From the opening stages, Court Slayers played with confidence and intensity, moving the ball quickly through the court and converting chances with excellent accuracy. Their defence worked tirelessly to disrupt Red Falcons’ attacking play, allowing them to maintain momentum and gradually extend their advantage.

To their credit, Red Falcons continued to compete with determination and never allowed their heads to drop, showing excellent attitude and commitment throughout the match. While the scoreline favoured Court Slayers, the Falcons continued to battle hard and will no doubt take valuable lessons from the fixture moving forward.

Perhaps the closest and most dramatic match of the evening came between We Don’t Give A Shot and Call The Shots, who played out an exciting 9-9 draw. The game remained evenly balanced from start to finish, with both teams producing moments of quality and responding well whenever the opposition threatened to pull ahead. The match was played in a fantastic spirit and provided plenty of excitement for everyone watching courtside.

Both teams can take great encouragement from their performances, with strong teamwork and determination evident throughout the contest. The evenly matched nature of the game highlighted just how competitive the League has already become after only three weeks of action.

Among the many strong performances across the evening, Katie Richmond of Call The Shots stood out as this week’s Most Valued Player. Richmond delivered an excellent individual display, impressing with her movement, composure, and consistent accuracy under pressure. Her energy and influence on the game played a huge role for her team, and her performance was fully deserving of recognition.
