Oldham Monday night netball - week 4

Play in the Oldham Monday Netball League

Week four of the Oldham Monday Netball League provided another enjoyable evening of competitive netball, with teams demonstrating excellent teamwork, determination, and skill across the court. As the season continues to develop, players are building strong combinations and producing increasingly confident performances in both attack and defence.

One of the opening fixtures of the evening saw Ballers take on Blue Lightning. Blue Lightning produced a strong all-round display to secure a 25-6 victory, moving the ball effectively through the court and making the most of their opportunities in the shooting circle. Their attacking combinations worked well throughout the match, while their defensive players applied consistent pressure to limit scoring chances. Ballers continued to work hard from start to finish and showed great commitment throughout the contest.

Despite the result, Ballers had plenty to celebrate as Louise Henson was named Most Valued Player of the week. Louise delivered an outstanding individual performance, demonstrating excellent court awareness, determination, and skill under pressure. Her movement into space, support play, and positive attitude throughout the game stood out, making her a deserving recipient of this week's award.

The second fixture featured Time To Shine against Saddleworth Sirens. Time To Shine produced a confident and composed performance to claim a 16-2 victory. Their ability to retain possession, move the ball quickly through the thirds, and create opportunities around the shooting circle proved highly effective. Defensively, they worked tirelessly to contest passes and force turnovers, helping them maintain control throughout the match. Saddleworth Sirens continued to battle throughout the game and showed great effort against a well-organised opponent.

Later in the evening, Shots & Giggles faced Seven Heaven in a competitive encounter. Seven Heaven secured an 11-1 victory thanks to a disciplined defensive display and effective teamwork across the court. Their defenders worked hard to challenge every pass and create turnover opportunities, while their attackers remained patient and composed in possession. Shots & Giggles continued to compete positively throughout the game, showing resilience and determination against a strong opposition.

Across all three fixtures, there were some excellent examples of netball fundamentals being executed well. Accurate passing, intelligent movement off the ball, strong communication, and committed defensive work all contributed to a high standard of play. Rebounds, interceptions, and well-timed drives into space proved crucial in several matches, highlighting the importance of teamwork and court awareness.

As the season progresses, teams will continue to develop their partnerships and build confidence with each game played. Every week provides new opportunities to improve, compete, and enjoy the social and competitive aspects of the league, and week four showcased exactly why the Oldham Monday Netball League continues to be such a great environment for players of all abilities.

Congratulations to Louise Henson on being named Most Valued Player of the week, and well done to Ballers, Blue Lightning, Time To Shine, Saddleworth Sirens, Shots & Giggles, and Seven Heaven for their efforts and performances. We look forward to another evening of fantastic netball as the league moves into week five.
