Fantastic Netball on Display in Week 2 of the Burton-on-Trent Sunday Netball League Powered by You Play Netball
Week 2 of the Burton-on-Trent Sunday Netball League brought another evening of exciting competition, with teams continuing to settle into the season and showcase their skills on court. From strong attacking performances to determined defensive displays, the league once again highlighted the enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship that make netball such an enjoyable sport to be part of.
Untouchables and Amazeballs got the evening underway with an entertaining encounter. Both teams showed great energy and commitment throughout the match, producing some excellent passages of play. Amazeballs put together a strong all-round performance and demonstrated why they are already looking like a team to watch this season, while Untouchables continued to battle hard and showed plenty of positive signs for the weeks ahead.
Odd Balls and Usual Chaos then took to the court in another competitive fixture. Odd Balls displayed excellent teamwork and communication, moving the ball confidently and making the most of their opportunities. Usual Chaos worked tirelessly throughout the game and showed great determination, competing for every ball and supporting one another from start to finish.
Netball Ninjas produced an impressive performance against Goal Diggers, showcasing strong movement, accurate passing, and solid defensive work. Goal Diggers continued to work hard throughout the match and displayed the resilience and positive attitude that are so important as teams continue to develop and grow throughout the season.
The closest contest of the evening came between Hotshots and Hoopz. Both teams delivered an exciting and evenly matched game, with momentum shifting throughout and every goal proving important. The match was a fantastic example of the competitive spirit within the league, with both sides producing some excellent netball and keeping spectators engaged right until the final whistle.
A special congratulations goes to Lucy Yates of Amazeballs, who was named Most Valuable Player of the Week. Lucy's outstanding performance, energy, and influence on the court made a significant contribution to her team's success. Her efforts were a brilliant example of the quality and talent on display across the league.
As the season begins to take shape, it is fantastic to see teams building confidence, developing combinations, and enjoying their netball. Every week is bringing new challenges and opportunities, and the standard of competition continues to grow.
The league would also like to thank all of our umpires for their dedication and commitment. Their role is essential in ensuring matches are played fairly, safely, and in the right spirit. We encourage all players and supporters to continue showing respect towards officials at all times. A positive and respectful environment helps make the league an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
